WANDA BARKER

I have been a practicing artist for some time. My work is mostly restorative, nostalgic, large colourful abstract expressionist paintings.

I sometimes paint small, on paper and cardboard. I use many materials, collage and embellishments. Bad calligraphy, misspelt words, paint, embroideries and fabric, old wall papers, clay, glitter, builders foam and a range of mediums. I explore a feminist aesthetic and a domestic narrative engaging with ideas of sacred/ profane, love and terror. I try to represent the complexity of shadow, decay, the abject & monstrous femme and its rehabilitation in my work. I explore and express my rebellion against violence, what is hard to say, to know
