GERALDINE BURNS
Geraldine loves to capture landscapes, seascapes, and nature – working in both digital and film mediums.
She has a ‘quiet eye’ – perhaps catching the light cast upon an object, the dew on a leaf, or mist rolling in…
Her style, often described as being poetic – captures a mood and sense of ‘being there’.
Geraldine predominantly photographs Whaingaroa, Raglan – her favourite place – raw and rugged, its moody winters, the often empty spaces and everchanging views. She is now also leaning into cityscapes – with architecture and structure appearing in her work.
She thoughtfully curates her work into collections and has held many exhibitions over the years and is available for commissions.
Her aim is to keep the image as raw as possible – treating the digital image as if it were an analogue shot. Taking the art of photography back to the simplicity of film. Being a graphic designer also influences Geraldine’s photography style – composition, angles, shadows and textures are all apparent in her work.
‘I just love taking photos, it’s what makes me happy. I love to share what I see, how I view the world.’
Te tuhi me te marama – drawing with light.
