LABOUR OF WILD
Lisa Uphill is a Raglan-based hat maker and the founder of Labour of Wild, creating heirloom-quality fur felt hats by hand. Working primarily with fedoras and western silhouettes, her pieces are shaped using traditional techniques and finished with carefully considered materials and detailing. Each hat is made to be worn, not just admired. Lisa approaches her work with a strong sense of form and proportion, balancing craftsmanship with a refined, fashion-led perspective. No two pieces are the same, with many designs created as one-offs or bespoke commissions. Operating without a retail storefront, Labour of Wild is intentionally personal. Clients are invited into the process, often through one-on-one consultations, resulting in hats that feel both individual and enduring. Lisa’s work sits somewhere between craft and statement piece. Designed to move through different settings, her hats are made to be lived in and kept for years to come.
